Communications & Events Manager

Location – Basingstoke

We are looking for a Communications and Events Manager to develop and deliver internal events and communications to inform, engage and inspire our people in support of business objectives, strategy and vision. The role involves working in a small but busy team as a trusted advisor and to plan, develop and deliver internal communications strategy and plans for the Defence Business Area.

The communications team works with stakeholders across the whole Defence Business and are involved in a multitude of diverse projects including responsible business campaigns, town halls, business updates, newsletters, launches and events. It’s our job to keep everyone engaged and informed on business strategy, developments, news, views and Responsible Business activity using a range of channels and creative methods to deliver our key messages.

If you are a dynamic individual looking for an opportunity to stretch yourself this role will offer you the opportunity to take ownership and lead on projects/events within our Communications Team.

Your experience

  • Demonstrate extensive experience of working in an Internal Communications Role
  • Understand role and purpose of internal communications; provide clear briefs; develop effective strategies and devise deliver and evaluate campaigns.
  • Proven relationship building, stakeholder management, maintaining and influencing at all levels
  • Writing skills: excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills as well as ability to identify and source stories from colleagues.
  • Experience of devising and implementing communication strategies.
  • Understanding of how to successfully engage and motivate employees
  • Experience of Responsible Business would be useful
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with experience of Office packages incl. Powerpoint and Excel
  • Experience in use of video to deliver messages and Sharepoint experience would be useful
